Not much is known about TERMINAL aside from the fact that they seem to be some sort of bio-mechanical superstructure floating in the middle of space. It prefers to observe rather than interact, keeping verbose, detailed logs pertainng to the universe they inhabit.
Another being similar to TERMINAL exists, and they are known as THE OVERSEER. The two seem to be aware of each-other, having the ability to communicate even if they are billions of lightyears from one-another. While their roles are similar, they are not exactly the same. Perhaps they came from the same source...?
THE OVERSEER is more concerned with exploring alternative realities-- they are obsessed with finding every possibility through simulations. While they cannot directly influence the main timeline in any form, they very much can create new ones. However, these timelines are often temporary and only exist in small, highly-specialized pockets.
Despite their differences, both of them have the ability to go outside of their own reality and interact with other ones. THE OVERSEER, in particular, often acts as a bridge between our reality and their own-- they seem to understand human concepts and languages. TERMINAL is more contained, having less interest in such things, but provides THE OVERSEER with essential information about their own observed universes, if required.
The two have existed since the beginning of time, despite looking artifically made; their origins are very much unknown and have perplexed many of the world's greatest scientists as to WHO and WHAT they could possibly be.
Terminal as an idea was made a long time before I actually created their design, which is pretty recent as of writing. In recent time, I've found it difficult to put my ideas into visual form, so TERMINAL was stuck in "design limbo" for quite some time, similarly to INTRAMATRIX.
THE OVERSEER was made in 2023. When I had first created them, they had a much different concept, which I find to be a little funny to look back on given how different it was...For a while I attemmpted to include it in other stories before settling on a more detached worldbuilding concept. The base premise of a being that messes with timelines is still very much present.
It made sense to put these two together as almost two halves of one collective entity as I developed them both as ideas.
As a muse, TERMINAL reflects a very logical side of my brain, which aligns with other muses such as RK-0 or Vendetta. To me, it makes sense to view my brain as a bio-mechanical mechanism that undergoes thousands of calculations. I resonate greatly with machinery and industrial enviroments, and I think that reflects well in TERMINAl and other machine-aligned muses of mine. These things are never the most easy to describe, but that is what I can say about the matter for now...if only it was easier to articulate.
